Outland Takes Asia! One Year Anniversary

Hey Outlanders, Last year, Outland launched as a new platform dedicated to fostering critical conversations around emerging digital technologies and their relationship to digital art. Since then, Outland has grown to be so much more. We entered the world of Web3 with our founding token and mintpass: the monumental Elemental by Chinese contemporary master Fang Lijun. With this work, we made a claim for a future digital ecosystem that centers the work of pioneering creators — and holds art as its highest value. Since then, we have released projects with a range of artists working across digital media: James Jean’s Fragments NFT series employed classic elements of the artist’s illustration practice with new experiments in architectural design. Ian Cheng’s 3FACE charted new territory, incorporating neural models to create bespoke portraits of its holders based on wallet data. Leo Villareal followed up his massive genesis project Cosmic Bloom with its second chapter, Cosmic Reef, which employs live code to create fantastical designs inspired by nature.
