About the play... đ§âđ¨
The artist is working. We donât know how long itâs been. Only that heâs still hunched over herâthis statue he was commissioned to create. She doesnât have a face, but she has veins. In fact, his blindfolded publicist insists that she is warm. Unlike that famously awakened statue of Pygmalion, our marble woman, Comard, slips farther from life. In turns absurd comedy and starved romance, âsleeplessâ is an interrogation of creative obsession and mediated intimacy.
