LEG DAY LAUNCH PARTY

Have you heard that I launched a newsletter about pursuing joy as a city cyclist? And that it's called Leg Day? What am I talking about, of course you have!  To celebrate, I'm hosting a fundraiser for the Bike Plant repair fund. The theme of the event will be a Celebration of Life for my first vintage bike, which I crashed earlier this summer. I purchased the bike used, from a literal garage, and spent a lot of energy (and more money than I’d care to admit) repairing it into tip-top rideable shape. Bike Plant is a repair shop in Bed-Stuy that's crucially open seven days a week. They do amazing work on a wide range of bikes with a strong commitment to their community. Their member and donation supported repair fund allows them to subsidize the price of parts and labor for people who cannot afford to get their bike into a safe, rideable condition. As far as I know, they are the only bike shop in New York that offers this extremely valuable public service. I plan to donate all the proceeds we earn from the event directly to the fund.  The event will be held at Outlandish on Thursday, September 12 at 7pm. Tickets will cost $20, but that includes free drinks and snacks courtesy of Dirty Water, Athletic Brewing and LesserEvil. Your entry fee also includes a $5 raffle ticket. What are we raffling off? Gear you'll need to survive biking in the city from brands like Camelbak, Cotopaxi, Fjallraven, HOKA, Knog, Snow Peak, Vacation and Wild Rye! if we get enough people there, I might be able to give away a literal BIKE.
