After an unexpected invite to the tip of Maine to cover the Rhythm Rollers takeover at Fam Fest — one of the US's most sought-after, boutique bass music festivals — Gi Major found unexpected depth in the footage she had captured throughout the day. What was originally planned to be artist interviews, turned into a journey deep into the grime subculture. By blending glimpses of the vibrant festival environment with in-depth interviews, she uncovered a unique (and often comical) story featuring some of the UK's Grime pioneers: Rhythm Rollers label-head Jamakabi, Roll Deep's own Manga Saint Hilare, and Timbo Slice— America's premier Grime DJ.
Join us on January 12th alongside our Soundboy Entertainment family as we celebrate Grime — a genre whose impact is often felt more than heard by those who understand the high level of expertise and intricacies that define it. This is a night to honor its masters: the MCs who elevate lyricism to an art form, the producers who craft the soundscapes that set the genre apart, and the DJs who keep live cyphers alive and thriving. This is more than an event; this is our journey through Grime.
The night kicks off at 5pm with open decks. The documentary will be followed by sets from BOOKZ, Lord Of Ciphers, SBE DJ’s ++ Special Guests.
