Ring in the holiday season the right way, with libations, snacks, community, and competition at our White Elephant Party!
Bring a appetizer or dessert to share, you beverage of choice to drink/share, and a gift to swap (max $30). We'll play our jolly (and competitive!) annual gift swapping game around 8:45/9pm.
What is a White Elephant party you ask? Besides being an excuse to bring our people together to celebrate the holiday season, it's a fierce competition of cutthroat gift banditry!
People bring wrapped gifts that are placed anonymously in a pile. To start the game, everyone draws numbers to determine the order in which they’ll select gifts. The first player select and opens a gift. Then the second and subsequent players can either steal the first player’s gift or choose to open a new one. If your gift is stolen, you can either steal a gift from someone else or open a new one. In our house, each gift can only be stolen once per round. This continues around the group until everyone has a gift — some of which, of course, are more desirable than others.
