This Midsummer-themed portrait and collage class is focused on drawing from reference and incorporating collage to create a meaningful, unique artwork. The midsummer festival originated as a Scandanavian pagan holiday honoring the summer solstice and ushering in a fruitful harvest. Class will begin with the demonstration of simple, approachable techniques for drawing a portrait from reference, then utilizing collage to create our own unique midsommarkrans, or flower crowns. Bring a high-quality printed black-and-white photo of whoever you'd like to draw. We will have printed reference images available as well. All materials will be provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own paper collage materials if there’s something specific you’d like to use. This class is open to all levels, and will offer technical instruction alongside space for creative expression and socializing. This ticket includes your seat and all the materials needed for the class. Seasonal, handcrafted mocktails will be available for purchase from our lovely hosts at The Undergrounds Coffee Co.
