Come join us for an intimate kung fu tea workshop with Max Falkowitz, a James Beard Award-winning food and drink writer for the New York Times, Saveur, and Imbibe, and the author of the newsletter Leafhopper [https://leafhopper.substack.com/] What is Kung Fu Tea? Kung fu tea, also known as gongfu tea, is a traditional Chinese method of tea preparation that emphasizes precision, skill, and mindfulness. The term "kung fu" means "craftsmanship" or "time and effort," reflecting the care and expertise involved in this tea ritual. Location: Nautical-themed garden level of a brownstone in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn $45 for a 2-hour tasting workshop that includes: ✔️ Light iced tea and snacks upon arrival ✔️ Introduction to kung fu tea principles and techniques ✔️ Learn to use a gaiwan*, the traditional lidded bowl essential for kung fu tea preparation ✔️ Tasting of three different teas, including rare and aged varieties from Max's personal collection ✔️ Multiple steepings of each tea and different steeping methods ✔️ Open to tea lovers of all levels, from curious beginners to experts 🎁 Tea samples to do your own tasting at home 🎁 1 free month of paid access to Leafhopper *You can BYO gaiwan or separately purchase one for $24 (20% off, normally retails $30) to steep along with Max during the workshop and continue your kung fu tea journey at home.
