“Family Style” is a group dinner series where every week we visit the “under-appreciated” restaurants from different cultures, in San Francisco. Hosted by The Children of Diaspora, we bring together folks who appreciate the beauty of experiencing culture through food, and through good conversation. For this dinner, we'll be in the Mission to have Mexican food - a California staple, but not just tacos and burritos. We'll eat family style with entrees of carne asada, shrimp, fish, and more! To attend this event please RSVP here (hit “going”) and Venmo $30 to @andrew-pang (if you don't Venmo we won't be able to reserve a spot for you!) ------------------------------- FAQ 1. What if I have dietary restrictions/am vegetarian/vegan/etc.? - Unfortunately as a new communal dinner event, we're not able to accommodate food restrictions. Stay tuned as future meals we may accomodate different diets! 2. What does my entry fee cover? Can I just order on my own? - Currently, our dinner is meant to be eaten communally "family style" so we will order for the whole table. The fee covers the food, tip, and a small stipend for hosts so we can continue to organize these events :) ------------------------------- Andrew Pang (a child of Chinese immigrants and Bay Area-native) and co-founder, Dennis “Conrad” Johnson (a child of Sierra-Leonian immigrants, and long-time resident of SF) have formed a collective called "The Children of Diaspora". Their mission is deeply rooted in bridging communities by celebrating, appreciating and creating a deeper understanding of others’ cultures, especially ones that aren’t highlighted in the mainstream. Together, as "The Children of Diaspora", they curate experiences that resonate with both the traditional and the modern.
