Join DJ Shorty & Pioneer DJ at On The Rise DJ Academy on the 13th November for a free Start From Scratch DJ workshop!
Pioneer DJ invites people of colour to learn how to Scratch!
Shorty is not just a DJ but also an educator and youth mentor. Currently holding down a monthly residency at the world famous ChipShop in Brixton and until recently, hosted the weekly ChipShop show on ChuckD’s Rapstation365.
His radio career started on pirate radio with ForceFM, moving on to DejaVu as well as working with ItchFM, KaneFM, BBC Radio 6, 1Xtra and Xfm.
Not just a club DJ, Shorty has worked with a number of live acts over the years headlining sets at Glastonbury and the London Jazz Festival with improv jazz outfit, N.S.C.
When it comes to educating, Shorty has partnered up with singer/producer Mister Lees to run More Than Music. An organisation aimed at long term work with troubled youth. His primary educational role is as a lecturer for Point Blank Music school London as well as their partners around the world. In addition to that, hosting a weekly drop in session for 18-25yr olds at The Roundhouse in Camden.
The intention behind this program is to support minoritised and underrepresented communities. Our goal is to create a safe and productive space to nurture talent.
Pioneer DJ have a commitment to making sure that there is increased diversity within our industry. We know from research that targeted events like these help close the gap.
