On Saturday January 25th, we'll be exploring the parks, piers, gardens, and amphitheaters along the Bronx coastline. We'll begin at Crotona Park and trek along the waterfronts until we reach Ferry Point Park, where we'll board the ferry back to 34th street in Manhattan and have dinner at Food Gallery 32 in K-Town. Here's my Google Maps list of the places we'll pass by: https://maps.app.goo.gl/eWdTtt9iboZHDK7f9 FYI this is a 6+ hour stroll, followed by plenty of hangout time, and you are free to join us at *any* point along the way 🙌 All RSVP'd "yes" and "maybe" attendees will receive a link at 10am to my realtime location for the entire hike, along with my phone number, so you can see exactly where we are on google maps and call me directly if you need help 🤗 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 🌿 About Hyggehiking 🌿 Hygge means "a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being." "Hyggehiking" is my own special blend, where we engage in that conviviality while trekking through green spaces throughout our city. I host Hygge gatherings so we can come together to make new friends, discuss fun projects we're eager to work on, dive into deep, thoughtful discussions, and meet people who can help make NYC feel like a smaller, closer-knit community. We bring our friends, family, coworkers, anyone we think would enjoy spending the day alongside a variety of curious souls. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 🗺️ ITINERARY 🗺️ 10am-10:30am — Crotona Park ✨We'll gather at Crotona Park and check out its lake and amphitheater. 10:30am-11:30am — Starlight Park, Concrete Plant Park ✨ Did you know NYC turned an old concrete plant into a public park? Both of these parks abut the Bronx River, which we'll get to cross over a few times! 11:30am-12:30pm — Butterfly Meditation Garden, Soundview Park ✨ Here, we'll catch our first view of the East River, Hunt's Point Landing, and planes flying out of LaGuardia. Bring your binoculars! 12:30pm-1:30pm — Clason Point Park, Fuhgeddaboudit Pizzeria Cafe ✨ Best LaGuardia view, as well as views of Whitestone Bridge. Then, a short snack break at a very NYC eatery. 1:30pm-2:00pm — Pugsley Creek Park, Castle Hill Park ✨ These parks abut Westchester Creek, so we might get to see some interesting tidepools and marshes. 2:00pm-3:00pm — Ferry Point Park ✨ We'll wander below the Whitestone bridge until the ferry arrives to transport us to Manhattan's 34th street. 3:00pm-6:00pm — Food Gallery 32 This three story K-Town food court is a major social hub, as it has a huge variety of vendors of snacks, bubble teas, and Korean food of all sorts. We'll hang out, relax, converse, and eat here for a few hours. If other ideas materialize thereafter, we can go with the flow. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 🎒WHAT TO BRING🎒 • comfy shoes • warm hat/gloves/coat/layers • friends 🥰 • cash ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 👋🏼ABOUT YOUR HOST👋🏼 I'm Steve Dean, admirer of nature, denizen of the internet, steward of social and technological ecologies, dating industry consultant, and relationship coach.
