Pinkdot gGmbH is pleased to announce the exhibition VERTIGEM by Berlin-based photographer Rafael Medina, running from November 14th to November 28th, 2024, at the gallery located at Choriner Str. 51, 10435 Berlin. The vernissage with DJ's and drinks to celebrate the exhibition will take place on November 14th at 7:00 PM.
"Vertigem" is a compelling series of analog and double-exposure photographs by Rafael Medina, reflecting his personal experiences, sensations, and affections during his first visit to his hometown of Rio de Janeiro after four years in Berlin. Navigating the duality of being both a son and a foreigner, Medina captures the emotional turbulence of returning home: "It feels like I was there just yesterday and at the same time I never was."
The title "Vertigem" embodies the sense of disorientation he felt when confronted with the landscapes and friends from his past, who have since evolved into new identities. Through a nostalgic lens, Medina weaves together memories and the present, resulting in photographs that evoke deep affective connections.
