HANKIE a Nonbinarian Cruising Corner Social ~MEET CUTIES + DANCE ON + LIGHT PLAY + SUPPORT THE NB!~ Way back when queer desires were shunned and made secret, our ancestors created a language of signals to let others know they were down to play. Cue in the hanky code. A simple piece of cloth carefully slid in a pocket or another and–bam! You just knew who was one of us & what got their cogs turning. We now live in the age of the cyber-cruise, the data-d1ck, the dating-app-over-meet-cute-at-local-bookstore era. But ain’t it nice to come out to greet likeminded cuties, dance the night in, and build community in the only way a volunteer-powered queer bookstore slash community space can do? You can come to hang, dance, watch, play, and make the evening all your own. Light play encouraged throughout our intimate, bookwormish venue for the daring. Safety and educational materials will be provided. We will have a designated sensory-friendly quiet area for those wishing to take a break and a breath from the festivities. Proof of vaccination and same-day negative COVID test required for entry. Masks required. ABOUT US The Nonbinarian is a trans & queer led mutual aid effort to distribute free queer books around Brooklyn. We just opened a brick-and-mortar store on 1130 President Street in Crown Heights. We love that it's our space & we can use it to create community, uplift queer artists, and have a lot of fun. So, we're debuting our cruising corner series—an after-hours social for folks to meet the space, each other, & vibe. Free admission with a suggested donation of $10-$20 to support our space.
