The ONYX Northwest Education Committee is proud to present the continuation of our Leather Lab Series!
Our goal is to help each of you sharpen your knowledge, deepen your experiences, and confidently explore your individual practices. We’re continuing our journey with a truly special, one of a kind event:
Leather Lab Series | Vulnerable Transgression: Graylin & Midori discuss their Cultural Trauma Play Scene.
Join us as we sit with Graylin Thornton and Midori, two iconic pillars of our community, to debrief a scene they shared more than two decades ago. In the early 2000s, alongside a few other community members, Graylin & Midori publicly engaged in a deeply vulnerable scene that touches on colonial legacies that still dictate our lives today.
Within BDSM and Kink, many of our practices are inherently transgressive. They can be controversial, uncomfortable, and intentionally push personal, cultural, and societal boundaries. Together, Graylin & Midori will discuss why they chose to participate in the taboo, how they've grappled with bringing their full selves (including their cultural histories) into their desire and play, their view on the western lens inherent in much of kink and leather, and how they prepare for deep, intentional engagement with challenging material. They will also reflect on how their scenes have impacted them over time, and how BDSM might have served as a transformative space for reclaiming autonomy, processing systemic legacies, and asserting agency over their bodies and desires.
Come ready to listen, reflect, and grapple with how transgression can become reclamation.
If you do not have the bandwidth to handle difficult conversations on this day or find it challenging to engage with taboo themes, THIS EVENT IS NOT FOR YOU and we highly suggest skipping this event!
