Come spend a night with us crafting & creating community in the beautiful Shop Altana Oasis in Oakland. Led by Pallavi Sarup of the Hamesha Project, we’ll be learning South Asian tie dye techniques, and naturally dyeing silk scarves with Madder! Madder is one of the first natural dyes ever used in South Asia, and produces deep crimson, brick red hues on silk fabric. No previous experience with natural dyes is needed! Pallavi will lead through group through a brief history of dying with madder, and everyone will have a chance to practice their folding techniques before we move on to scarves. Then each guest will get to fold and dye their own 21 inch x 21 inch square silk scarf. While we wait for the dye to deepen, we’ll have drinks and light bites to share. Come with your bestie or partner or come alone and meet new friends! We can’t wait to see you there! Please note: due to the nature of this event, tickets are non-refundable but may be transferred to another party. We are happy to put you in touch with those on the waitlist if necessary. *In case of inclement weather, this event will be rescheduled. * If the Venmo link isn’t working, please look up @pallavisarup on Venmo and pay directly. The last four digits of my phone number are 0161. Please don’t select the purchase protection option as it takes away ticket revenue from the sellers.
