Friends - we can’t wait to be with you at another community gathering and sale for Palestine! We've got DJs bringing the vibes all day, a curated selection of thrift and vintage clothes, a delicious bake sale, olive oil from Palestine, a raffle AND @mabsootmanaeesh is back to fire up fresh Palestinian flatbread. As always, we donate 100% of the proceeds. The majority of the funds collected will be sent to a direct aid initiative: Shabab Gaza Shabab Gaza is a grassroots aid initiative led by young Palestinian volunteers, providing emergency relief and support, distributing meals, cash and produce in unsecured areas of the strip where many international aid organizations will not go. They're on IG at @shababgaza1 A smaller portion of the funds will be split between a family of refugees from Gaza receiving medical care here in NYC for their infant child who was born with a heart condition, and an initiative led by a fierce Palestinian-American woman in Staten Island, hosting refugees from Gaza and supporting them as they rebuild their lives. While we'd prefer to divest from this platform, Partiful has powerful features that enable us to grow this community and strengthen connections through repeated gatherings, but there are tradeoffs in privacy and investor entanglements. We organize knowing that there are no foolproof ways to keep our hearts and parties open and welcoming without exposing our communities to some risk. We can, however, make the data a little more confusing for the bad guys. Please check on friends who've RSVPed who are at the highest risk, and urge them to scramble their footprint a little. 🙏
