Monday, Jan 20th is Martin Luther King Day AND Inauguration Day for #notmypresident#47– a bifurcation of reality that feels deeply symbolic for our time. These choices about what we celebrate, what we fight for, and simply what we give our attention to will be facing us every day this year and beyond.
These are tender times. We invite you to tend to what matters with us.
Some of us have the day off. Some will be working. Some may be volunteering/participating in an MLK day of service. Whatever your 9-5 looks like that day, let's gather for a little while that evening to open a portal to peace and possibility. Let’s gather in community and commit to showing up for each other in the challenging times to come. Let’s take our faces out of our phones for an hour or two, let’s rest our minds from the hype and the anger and the fear, to fortify and nourish ourselves and each other. It’s going to be a long haul.
It's gonna be too cold for an outdoor fire, but we will bring the warmth and light of community inside. If you like, please bring a small food item or beverage to share.
In the spirit of mutual aid, you are invited to bring an offering like:
- a mutual aid source or request to uplift
- a poem or passage that nurtures or inspires you
-a song that speaks to your heart and this moment (songs we can sing along with are welcome)
- a commitment for how you want to show up for others in your community, OR a request for how you need others to show up for you
-musical instruments welcome
LOCATION NOTES:
We'll send a plan for the evening when you RSVP, along with the address, our phone numbers, and parking instructions.
