Shala Social Club invites you to Gamit, a community clothing swap where we celebrate sustainability not as a trend, but as a practice deeply woven into immigrant culture that has always known how to reuse, repurpose, and revive. Ticket includes entry, light bites, coffee, matcha lattes and beverages by KACE. In Filipino, the word “gamit” carries many meanings. It can mean our things, our belongings. It can also mean something that’s already been used. That’s the beauty of the Filipino language: the same word, said in a different tone, takes on a different life. Just like our words, our “gamit”—our things—can live again. An old shirt is cut in strips to make a colorful doormat. An ice cream tub becomes food storage. A dress once loved gets a second story with someone new. 👉 How does it work? Bring clothing items (min. 3️⃣, max. 7️⃣ pieces). At the party, you can take the same number of pieces you brought from other people’s closets. 👉 What kind of clothes should I bring? In good condition. Make sure they are pieces you are proud enough to share with other (cool) people. Please, no ratty high school tshirts. 👉 Where do I drop off? You can bring your (maximum 7) clothing items at the venue day-of. 🚗 Parking Street parking available around the neighborhood. 🎟️ Tickets are non refundable before 48 hours of the event. Questions?
