We have asked over 20 artists across the world to delve into the multiverse of possibility that stems from the year 2000. A nexus point at the intersection of technology & human experience, igniting a psychic wave of collective excitement & anxiety that gave rise to infinite potential futures. Traversing into new frontiers beyond the retrofuturism imagined during the 1970s that proliferated throughout the 20th century of alternate futures dripping with the nostalgia of the 1950s – ‘60s era. Y2K futurism emerged as its own chrysalis, wrapped within the distinctive aesthetics & technological advancements of the time juxtaposed with the cultural shifts brought forth by a burgeoning internet culture in a new digital age. Bursting forth, a butterfly effect influencing a new generation of artistic expression, & becoming a cornerstone of contemporary retrofuturism.
