Suggested Donation $20 - $30 Sliding Scale (Venmo: @SunsetSeriesPresents) ---------------------------------------------- Evie Ladin Band - Neo-Trad Kinetic Folk https://evieladin.com/projects/evie-ladin-band/ Tenacious, innovative string musicians, the Evie Ladin Band – Evie Ladin, Keith Terry, and Erik Pearson – throws down captivating, truly entertaining live shows. Grounded in Appalachian old-time repertoire, seasoned in African-diaspora roots, writing from urban life, blurring the lines between music and dance, the polyrhythmic heat of Evie’s clawhammer banjo, resonant voice, real stories and rhythmic dance have been heard from A Prairie Home Companion to Hardly Strictly Bluegrass. Oakland-based, nationally touring, their performance experience is a stand-out. 2024 sees the release of their fifth album – Evie Ladin Band LIVE – an audience-fueled romp through original songs spanning all of the band’s previous studio releases, recorded at the esteemed Freight & Salvage in Berkeley, CA. The detailed interplay of instruments around Evie’s clever lyrics really shine, as live performance is the band’s forte. “A truly original sound in new old-time Americana,” says fRoots, while Pop Matters says “Ladin possesses a keen songwriting sense and a stable of strong musicians to back her up.“ For a sneak peak, check out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pobKdnzFn7A&t=95s B*Craft Stringband https://www.instagram.com/bcraftstringband/ Formed by roots musicians from all around the Bay Area, B*Craft is a new band with an old sound. Once upon a time, at the end of a local women's bluegrass jam last year, some pickers hung around and had way too much fun playing and singing together to not form a band. B*Craft isn't out to win a grammy, but you could say the band has a mission. There's something special, even magical, about getting together and sharing live music with others. When musicians find those magical moments, we feel inspired to continue creating and sharing that beautiful celebration of connection with others. At a B*Craft show, you'll be met with a group of experienced bluegrass and roots musicians bringing you the music that makes our hearts sing, from traditional bluegrass standards to beautifully crafted originals. Among the standard bluegrass instruments, the band features twin fiddles and stellar harmonies. Maybe the room will shake. Maybe it will be the brand new dance we just taught you... There's only one way to find out. B*Craft includes Tonya Newstetter on guitar, Christine Wilhoyte on banjo, Ashley Readel on dobro, Jee-Hee Haar on fiddle, Amy Kassir on fiddle, and Sarah Jo Millar on bass.
