Join us for a magical opportunity to capture your dance in the snow! River and Nat are cohosting this group shoot. Nat will be taking photos and River will be capturing video! Here's what you can expect:
You can wear a cute sweater and pants and do lowflow/basework or go all out in a tiny outfit and do some aerial if you're brave! Cozy and slutty vibes are welcome, you can't be too extra! Everyone who comes to this group shoot will first get some posed pictures to a song and then freestyle dance to another song for video capture (pick your songs in advance or roll with what we have playing). Order of dancers getting photos/videos will be first come first served so you may need to wait for some folks to go before you but you'll get to watch some beautiful dancers and possibly make a new friend! You can leave as soon as you are done if you like. There are 4 spots available in River's car reserved for folks who need carpooling to get to location. You will need to be able to meet River at Magnussen Park in Seattle at 11:30am in order to join the carpool. There may be other opportunities to carpool with other people going to the event but only 4 spots guaranteed, first come first served River will update the page when carpool spots are all taken.
The $20 required to RSVP is your ticket price for reserving your spot in this shoot. Tickets are refundable if we have at least 48 hours advance notice, this is so we can find someone else to take your spot in the shoot. If you cancel within 48 hours of the shoot your $20 ticket price is non-refundable. Thank you for understanding!
Location: The shoot will likely be located in the Middlefork Natural Area. There are lots of snow spots there that require only pulling off the main plowed road to get to the location. We will be scouting out the exact location before the shoot so you can have GPS coordinates. If there isn't snow in Middlefork at the time of the shoot we will pick another location off i90 within an hourish drive of Seattle.
Pole Details: Chrome stage pole. If it starts snowing we may switch to powder coat pink pole because it's less slippery when wet. You will sign a liability waiver releasing us from responsibility for injuries on the pole. We will set the stage pole (rated for up to 250lbs) up to be as safe and stable as possible but you need to be mindful of the extreme conditions and be careful!
Pricing and Deliverables:
Photos by Forest Gremlin (Nat): $25-$75 sliding scale
What you get: At least ten edited photos, as many good photos as are captured will be edited and sent to you, no additional charge for extra photos!
It's ideal to have 5 standing or floor poses that you love in mind when you come to the shoot. You can absolutely bring aerial trick poses to the shoot too but just know that with the cold pole it is easier to get photos of non-aerial poses. Nat can also help pose you but it's going to be cold and we want to make the most of your time on the pole so having some poses in mind going into it will help you get more photos you love out of your photo session!
Videos by Skyclad Studio (River): $50-$100
What you get: 1 cinematic landscape freestyle video (1-2 minutes), 1 highlight vertical video (15-20 seconds), 1 reel vertical video (45-90 seconds)
We will play a song (you can choose or we can choose!) for you to freestyle to (or bring your own choreo). River will take the best moments of your dance and chop them up into video content showing off your dance with creative editing. If it's not snowing River can fly their drone for aerial shots, otherwise it will be stabilized ground footage. River recommends freestyling tricks that feel very comfortable for you. You aren't going to be able to warm up very much so it's best to stick with what your body is used to and that muscle memory will create the best video results! It looks better to finesse some leg waves, pirouettes, booty moments or simple tricks like leg hooks and pole sits than to be struggling to execute the upper range of your trick abilities in the cold!
Pricing note: You have to get both photos and video to be in the shoot. The $20 ticket price does not go toward your sliding scale fees for photos and videos. It's a lot of work for us to plan these shoots, transport people, set up the pole in the snow, get the content and edit it, we hope you find this pricing reasonable! You don't need to pay your sliding scale photo/video fees until after you get your content back. We hope this helps you find a price point that reflects the value of your experience and your budget.
You will receive your photos and videos within one week of the shoot!
Recommendations for health and safety:
- Bring your warmest jacket and layer up, you'll want to be as warm as possible right up until you get on the pole and get bundled up again directly after. Wool socks and gloves to wear when not on the pole recommended.
- Bring a hot drink in a thermos and/or hot hands!
- We are providing a rhinestone snowflake decorated soft faux fur Christmas tree skirt that can be placed over the base of the pole to make it a little less cold and less contrasting with the snow around it. It will be ideal for posed photos but hard to use for freestyling since it will move around when stepped on. We recommend either wearing heels or some kind of cute sock to protect your feet from the cold base. You are more than welcome to bring a blanket to use as a prop if you like.
Feel free to message River (@ariverdancing) or Nat (@_forestgremlin_) with any questions!!
