On Saturday July 20th, we'll be exploring the heights, sights, parks, and waterfronts of NYC's neighbor to the west. We'll hike from West New York (the town in New Jersey), through Weehawken, to Hoboken, to Jersey City, ultimately to Statue of Liberty park, winding through every park, food truck, and vista point along we find along the way. Here's my Google Maps list of the specific places we'll endeavor to traverse: https://maps.app.goo.gl/jRgLjtDGuaFhMz7w8 We won't make it to every location on the list, but I encourage you to explore and revisit them whenever you please! FYI this is a 12-hour stroll, and you are free to join us at *any* point in the day πŸ™Œ All RSVP'd "yes" and "maybe" attendees will receive a link at 10am to my realtime location for the entire day, along with my phone number, so you can see exactly where we are on google maps and call me directly if you need help πŸ€— ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 🌿 About Hyggehiking 🌿 Hygge means "a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being." "Hyggehiking" is my own special blend, where we engage in that conviviality while trekking through green spaces throughout our city. I host Hygge gatherings so we can come together to make new friends, discuss fun projects we're eager to work on, dive into deep, thoughtful discussions, and meet people who can help make NYC feel like a smaller, closer-knit community. We bring our friends, family, coworkers, anyone we think would enjoy spending the day alongside a variety of curious souls. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸ€β€πŸ‘©πŸΎπŸ’—πŸ‘¨πŸΏβ€πŸ€β€πŸ‘¨πŸ» New Holiday Alert πŸ‘¨πŸΏβ€πŸ€β€πŸ‘¨πŸ»πŸ’žπŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸ€β€πŸ‘©πŸΎ We'll be hiking during the Week of Visibility for Non-Monogamy, July 15-21. You can learn more about this celebratory week at https://www.weekofvisibility.com If you care to dig deeper into polyamory/non-monogamy, I might also direct you to my favorite creative project of 2017: "hey steve can you make a guide to polyamory using only cat gifs?" https://bit.ly/nonmeownogamy If you don't care to dig deeper into non-monogamy, that's cool, too; there are innumerable other relevant/salient/interesting things for us to discuss while hiking! It's worth noting that on any given hike (and throughout life) some percentage of us are actively (if not publicly) practicing a variety of relational formats across the spectrum of 'ogomies; and indeed, relationship preferences frequently come up as a topic of discussion. But statistically, we talk about so so many other things, too! I actually made a list of 100 questions/topics that had previously been discussed during our gatherings here: https://open.substack.com/pub/stevedean/p/recipes-for-human-connection-3261ecc35da9 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ πŸ—ΊοΈ ITINERARY πŸ—ΊοΈ 10am-11:30am β€” Moynihan Train Hall at Penn Station, Manhattan West Courtyard, The Vessel, Pier 78 at Hudson River Park, 39th Street Ferry Terminal ✨ We're starting off with some breakfast/coffee nibbles at the Moynihan Train Hall, and at 10:30am we'll begin walking west toward the ferry terminal, passing through a few iconic locations along the way. 11:30am-2pm β€” Exploring West New York (NJ): Port Imperial / Weehawken, Riverwalk view of NYC, Donnelly Memorial Park, The Old Glory Park, Manhattan View Point ✨ Expect hills, stairs, and other fun topological features as we meander through lookout points and get to know the local fauna of Weehawken. 2pm-3pm β€” Exploring Weehawken: Hamilton Park, Weehawken Dueling Grounds, Weehawken Waterfront Park & Recreation Center ✨ We'll breeze through a variety of waterfront parks and learn a bit more about the history and day-to-day sights and sounds of life on the Jersey side. 3pm-4:30pm β€” Exploring Hoboken: Sybil's Cave, Castle Point Lookout, Sinatra Park, Stevens Park, Pier C Park, Pier A Park, Adam Spicy Halal Food Truck ✨ Park park view park park food park park. 4:30pm-6pm β€” Exploring Jersey City: Water's Soul, Marina Park, Hidden Grounds Chai & Coffee House, Chennai Flavors Food Truck, Sun Dial, Colgate Clock, Morris Canal Park ✨ We'll wander through some beautiful sculptures, take a break to caffeinate at my favorite coffee roaster in Jersey City, and if hungry, avail ourselves of some highly rated food trucks along the way. 6pm-8pm β€” Exploring Liberty State Park: New York Skyline Observation Deck, Empty Sky Memorial, Statue Of Liberty Vista Jersey City, Black Tom Island, Sam Rock Beach ✨ Sunset on the beach with Manhattan in the distance. 8pm-10pm β€” Re-entering Manhattan: Warren Street - Liberty Landing Marina ferry to World Financial Center, Pier 17 Rooftop ✨ After basking by the Statue of Liberty, we'll make our way back to the ferry terminal to return to Manhattan and explore one final spot: the rooftop at Pier 17! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ πŸŽ’WHAT TO BRINGπŸŽ’ β€’ comfy shoes β€’ light jacket/blanket β€’ friends πŸ₯° β€’ cash β€’ sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ πŸ‘‹πŸΌABOUT YOUR HOSTπŸ‘‹πŸΌ I'm Steve Dean, admirer of nature, denizen of the internet, steward of social and technological ecologies, dating industry consultant, and relationship coach.
