Zelma Stone is the project of Zelma Studebaker (they/she), a songwriter with a gift for transforming grief into something haunting, tender, and deeply resonant. Rooted in the Bay Area and now based in L.A., Zelma’s sound weaves raw emotion with dreamy grit, drawing from early influences like Patsy Cline and Neil Young to modern indie icons like Amen Dunes and Sharon Van Etten. Their latest EP A Dance is their most fearless yet: a deep, open-hearted dive into love, loss, and letting go. Following the sudden death of her Mom in 2019, Kelly Koval coaxed out songs in the solitude of Shut Down that would soon become her debut solo album, Wake. These songs, both coarse and tender, unrelentingly shine a light on the grief and gratitude that thrives in the aftermath of loss. Described as alternative folk, Kelly's music is highlighted by her emotive vocals and ruminating lyrics that search for clarity in the chaos. Her long awaited album marks a new era in her collaborative music career that will give listeners nostalgic reminders of the impact and expansiveness of unending love.
