Join us for a unique culinary experience as we screen "Bell Book and Candle" a 1958 supernatural romantic comedy. Directed by Richard Quine, this film features James Steward and Kim Novak (the same year that they costarred in Alfred Hitchcock’s VERTIGO), in this imaginative romantic comedy based on the Broadway hit. Novak is Gillian Holroyd, a normal, everyday witch living in 1950s Greenwich Village who uses her supernatural powers to break up the engagement of her old college rival to the publisher Sheperd Henderson (Stewart). But when Gillian winds up falling for the hapless Sheperd, she finds that it may be love’s magic that casts the most powerful of spells.
REUNION is an underground and invite only artist-run space in the Arts District DTLA that has been known to host artist talks, symposiums, sound baths, functional mushroom workshops - and now an artistic dinner + movie series! The dinners have been wildly fun - where a 5-course menu is always based on a film, and for this one the film BELL BOOK AND CANDLE (1958) - in which the bewitching spirit of the film is accompanied by a historical occult-themed dinner, where culinary delights mirror the movie's themes of the supernatural. Expect the evening to be tongue-in-cheek, glamorous yet humorous, delicious, and full of conviviality and kinship! Hosted by Halston Bruce.
