It’s scary out there, but we don’t have to do it alone (and a little weather can’t stop us!) Join fellow producers, artists, absurdists and changemakers to celebrate the “toxically independent” feature film debut of Director Madeline Blue (Wet Hot American Summer) and DP Tara Sanders Brooks (American Cinematographer magazine). Experience the movie with sound by the SFX Designer who brought you Apocalypto, and learn about the journey behind the journey of independent filmmaking. Solo Trip is Reese Witherspoon’s Wild—on acid. It’s a psychedelic adventure film about spiritual self-discovery in a time when love and self-love have been pitted against each other. The event includes an advanced screening of the movie, cash bar, guest performances including @notbaddan comedian Dan Donohue, talk-back with the director and camera artists (hosted by @theactingnotes creator Justin R. Powell), and themed sandos and concessions curated by Bon Appetit mag’s featured October chef, Laura McClain. Guests are invited to drink, eat, mingle, laugh, cringe, cry, share their voice about the film and its themes, and connect with fellows who are working to tackle the loneliness (or selfishness) epidemic. In celebration of female voices, novels and poetry books by creatives involved in the film will also be available for purchase. Synopsis: Roxanne hijacks her ex-boyfriend's acid and hauls out into the wild--alone--to prove she only needs to count on herself. But strangers, Mother Nature, and her own mind have other plans for her, including some phantoms she'll need to embrace. With elements of French existential and cinéma vérité storytelling, Solo Trip explores a darkly funny, deeply intimate moment unfolding in altered time. Expect foolhardy decisions, trippy visuals, and a tongue-in-cheek reflection on hyper-independence. ___________________________ RSVP only, guests welcome until capacity. Doors: 6:30 (food, pre-party) Film Start: 7:30 No film admission after 7:45 No entry fee, cash bar and chef’s pop-up, books for sale Feature Film, 1 hour 42 minutes, not yet rated (adult language and themes, partial nudity) Event Producers: Keida Mascaro of The Cave podcast studio, Madeline Blue (The Sopranos, Justified)
