Tucson Thrive w/ Mike Heil (Free Virtual Event)

Mike Heil was diagnosed in 2010 with Narcolepsy without Cataplexy, a rare sleep disorder that affects the body’s ability to regulate sleep and wake cycles. What could have been a setback became one of the driving forces behind his mission to help others. Since then, Mike has become a passionate advocate, speaking at national conferences, hosting support groups and podcasts, and meeting with members of Congress to promote funding for rare disease research. He also helps patients and caregivers navigate the healthcare system, from understanding medical bills to coordinating care. That same dedication to helping others shapes Mike’s professional life. Today, he serves as a Retirement Plan Consultant with the Retirement & Investment Solutions practice of CBIZ, where he works with plan sponsors to design and manage retirement plans that support both employees and organizations. He also provides investment management to individuals, trusts, pension plans, cash balance plans, endowments, and foundations. Mike specializes in guiding private and public companies, as well as non-profit organizations, through the complex world of retirement and fiduciary responsibility. Born and raised in Arizona, Mike has lived across the Valley in Maryvale, Phoenix, Glendale, Peoria, Scottsdale, and now Mesa. His early career was as varied as his hometowns, with experience in carpentry, electrical work, manufacturing, sales, and private investigation. In 2013, he discovered his true calling in finance when he joined Vanguard and has been helping others plan for their future ever since. Although he lives in Mesa, Mike often visits Tucson, where he feels a strong connection to the city’s culture, warmth, and sense of community. He loves the people he meets there and enjoys spending time exploring all that Tucson has to offer. When he’s not working, Mike enjoys football, bowling, golf, and video games. During the pandemic, he developed a love for cigars, whiskey, and supporting both mental and personal wellness. He and his wife are also dedicated animal advocates, having trapped, neutered, and released more than 20 cats in their neighborhood.
