Make, Share, Empower: Buttons & Zines for Change

Come together for an afternoon of creating art, building community, and connecting over the shared love for storytelling. We'll be designing buttons and zines to support 'this is my body', a storytelling program for women of color in the Bay Area. No experience necessary - we'll walk you through it! Participants will have supplies to make their own buttons and zines around the theme of claiming and reclaiming our own narratives around our stories and bodies. All are invited to attend. Special thanks to Uyen Nguyen of the Fountainhead Bar for opening her space and Steven nizzotes Rubalcaba for offering his art guidance! 25% of your drink purchases will go towards funding scholarships for the program. About 'this is my body' 'This is my body' is an experience designed for women of color to reclaim their narratives and take up space and own their truths. In the wake of #MeToo and other critical conversations on how women navigate this world, storytelling has been a powerful vessel for resistance, empowerment, and healing. We are all writers and creatives with stories to tell. 'This is my body' is about starting the conversation at the point at which we own and love our bodies and our stories.
