Elif Bet Residency: sleepless

✨Welcome to the Elif Bet Residency✨ Elif regulars are familiar with our monthly Elif Bet readings. The Elif Bet Residency takes it a step forward: we work on an early-draft play from one of our Elif Bet readings, and transform it into an interactive, social, and immersive piece of theater. Over the course of 8 weeks, we've worked with playwright kay kemp and actors Tyler Bey and Genevieve Maiden to develop "sleepless." We're excited to show you what we've got so far. About the evening... 🍾🪩🌇 Unlike our typical Elif Bet readings, the Residency showcase will be rehearsed. A small portion will also be staged. No spoilers, but come ready to draw... As usual, we'll have ample time before and after the show to socialize. Come get to know the greatest minds in indie theater in NYC at our last event of the year! About "sleepless"...🦵🏾 The artist is working. We don’t know how long it’s been. His publicist eats takeout in the corner, blindfolded. She’s only allowed to examine his work by touch, and she insists that it—that she—is warm. In turns absurd comedy and starved romance, sleepless is an interrogation of creative obsession and mediated intimacy.
