Join us for an evening of envisioning alternative ethnographies and exploring what it means to be in reciprocal commitments to research as anthropology students. This student-centred & facilitated event is open to undergraduate and graduate students of Anthropology or interested friends to share and dream together.
Ethnographies encourage knowledge-collecting institutions to engage with reciprocal research, care-centred practices, and desire-based frameworks. Beyond this, ethnographies offer opportunities to dismantle hierarchical dynamics between researcher and subject and can create futures that centre community-generated knowledge. As undergraduate and graduate students, we hold a unique position within the university to shape the direction of the discipline we want to see. This student-centred and facilitated event invites you to an evening of envisioning and practical application. Share your dreams for ethnographies at Concordia and hear from peers partaking in similar conversations.
For the best engagement with the workshop, participants will be asked to bring current or past ethnography projects or ideas they would like to discuss related to re-imagining purpose and responsibility to relational research. More information will be communicated in the registration email.
Light food will be provided, and participants are encouraged to mask in the space.
