My thanks to you all for being open to taking part in something so experimental! This workshop has been a long time coming, and represents some of the most important self-learning I have done & continue to do in this lifetime ๐Ÿ˜Œ Itโ€™s an honor to share that with you all and I truly hope you take away something sustainably useful from the experience. The purpose of this workshop is to offer the space / encourage the possibility of moving in ways that your body usually does not (even though it can!) I hope and expect to be just as surprised as you by what we discover given more time x space than the average day affords. Weโ€™ll be playing around with exercises and activities that draw from: - Dance - Improv - Injury rehab - Functional movement techniques - Meditation - A smattering of strange poetryโ€ฆ Building on this^ foundation, themes guiding the workshop include: - Slowness - Curiosity - Arcs, curves, spirals - Breath - Plant thinking - Metaphor - Gravity & grace - Rhythm - and play!! Exploration rather than performance, no background in anything required except being a human bean ๐Ÿ™‚ โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€” ๐Ÿ‘‹ 2:15-2:30: come in, set down your things, say hello to friends old & new ๐ŸŒ€ 2:30-4:00pm: workshop! ๐Ÿ’ญ 4:00-4:30pm: informal and optional discussion/reflection - simply a chance to share any thoughts with each other before stepping out into a different space โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€” Cost: your time is precious enough, wonโ€™t ask more than that ๐Ÿ™ Location: 3rd Floor Dance Studio Harvey Milk Center for the Arts 50 Scott St, San Francisco, CA 94117 The front desk will point you upstairs to the studio, thereโ€™s also an elevator. What to wear/bring: - Clothes you can move in comfortably - Socks (barefoot or socks in the studio, whichever you prefer) - Waterbottle (yay hydration)
