Hi everyone! On this MLK Day of Service, we'll be giving back to the community and the land by taking our group bike ride to Pigeon Point Park to participate in reforestation efforts by planting native trees and shrubs. This forest restoration project is organized by Delridge Neighborhood Development Association, a non‐profit organization devoted to social, racial and environmental justice. Schedule: *8am breakfast and coffee at Cycle & Coffee - please arrive on time to order, enjoy your breakfast & bev, and air up your tires. *8:30am Departure & bike ride to Pigeon Point Park, tentatively via Elliott Bay Trail - a 12 mile route, see GPS link for details. *10am-1pm Forest Restoration Volunteering, see Volunteer link for details. Limited Capacity! Please be mindful of the limited spots available for the volunteer opportunity. I have reserved 12 spots for our group of riders. If you can't volunteer but want to join the ride, you're welcome to do so. If you want to volunteer but can't join for the ride, there might be extra capacity for you, I can let you know closer to the datte. In either case, please RSVP as "maybe" and indicate your plan in the comments! What to bring: -Check dress code and the weather! -You may want to BYO snacks or pack lunch. -A spare tube, bike multitool, tire levers, and pump are helpful things to carry on your bike if you have them, in case of mechanical issues. -DNDA will provide tools, gloves and some snacks for volunteering. Ride details: This group ride is on a schedule due to the 10am start for the volunteering session. We'll be riding at a fairly relaxed pace, but will be using the buddy system in case there are any stragglers. Each person is responsible for themselves and riding at their own risk, but we will have at least one bike mechanic in the group and will look out for each other. Riding with a spare tube and a couple tools is always helpful. This is a one-way group ride, so routing yourself home or to your next destination after the volunteer session is up to you! See GPS link for tentative route details.
