**ORIGINAL DATE RESCHEDULED DUE TO STORMY WEATHER** Flowtopia is going to the beach! Pencil us in for our new date of Saturday, August 9th. Pack up your flow toys and get ready to jam with us all day! We’ll be here from 1pm until beach close. There are plenty of amenities on the boardwalk! Bathrooms, sand showers, concession stands, bars, and tables to eat at. We will try to set up on the beach proper past the high tide line (will post a photograph day of). PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT - THIS IS A LEAVE NO TRACE EVENT! Please help keep our beaches beautiful and take all trash with you or dispose of it in proper receptacles on the boardwalk. Things to Pack: πŸ– Your props! As always, bring whatever is clever. Hula hoops, silk fans, juggling clubs, dragon staffs, double staffs, diabolo, etc - all are welcome! 🏝 A light jacket or swimsuit coverup! The beach can get windy. πŸ– Sunscreen 🏝 ID and card/cash - The boardwalk has vendors, including a bar for alcoholic beverages. πŸ– A blanket, yoga mat, or beach chair to sit on 🏝 Your beach towel and swimsuit! πŸ– Beach umbrella if you have one! 🏝 Sunglasses πŸ– Your mobility aid if needed! The beach is accessible - please read below for detailed information. 🏝 A cooler if you are bringing beverages or homemade food πŸ–οΈ A parasol PUBLIC TRANSPORT: πŸš‡ Via the NYC Subway: Take the Rockaway Park Shuttle S for the western section of the beach. On summer weekends, S service is extended to Rockaway Blvd. Switch there from any A train. At other times, take a Far Rockaway-bound A to Broad Channel for the S. Exit at any of the stations along the Rockaway Park Shuttle S and walk a short distance to Rockaway Beach. The Rockaway Park-Beach 116 St station is accessible. As always, we recommend using the Citymapper App for accurate travel information. πŸ›₯ Take the NYC Ferry! This is the most scenic way to travel to the beach. The ferry leaves Wall Street at Pier 11, stops at Brooklyn Army Terminal/Sunset Park, and makes one final stop at the Rockaways. The ferry stop is at Beach 108th Street and Beach Channel Drive. The Rockaway Reserve is back up for the summer. To reserve your ferry tickets in advance, please use their app or visit https://www.ferry.nyc/ticketing-info/ πŸš‚ Via the Long Island Railroad (LIRR): Take a Far Rockaway-bound LIRR train. You can catch a train to Far Rockaway from any of the stations on the Far Rockaway branch, including Penn Station, Grand Central, and Jamaica. Far Rockaway is an accessible station. 🚌 Via NYC Bus: The beach is a short walk from most bus stops along the Rockaway Peninsula. Please use the Citymapper app for the best route from your specific destination! 1. Take the Q22 toward Rockaway Beach Blvd. 2. Take the Q35 or Q53 SBS toward Rockaway Park. On the Q35, exit at any of the stops between Newport Ave-Beach 145 St and Newport Ave-Beach 116 St. On the Q53 SBS, exit at any of the stops between Rockaway Beach Blvd-Beach 96 St and Beach 116 St-Rockaway Beach Blvd. 3. Take the Q52 SBS toward Arverne. Exit at any of the stops between Rockaway Beach Blvd-Beach 92 St. β™Ώ ACCESSIBILITY: Beaches are accessible in NYC! We picked Beach 96 because it has wheelchair mats. These extend from the boardwalk to the high tide line. You can bring your own mobility device or request a wheelchair from the NYC Parks Department. Please follow this link to reserve a wheelchair in advance. Note you must do so 48 hours before you plan to go to the beach. https://www.nycgovparks.org/accessibility/beach-wheelchair-request-form Any questions or need help day of?
