Join us at PGS to view and celebrate the debut of DENTRO, LA artist Jester Bulnes’ (b. 2002) first book. Jester is currently in their junior year at the University of California, Los Angeles where they are working towards completing a BA in Fine Art with a concentration in photography & painting.
Jester’s photo work is often referred to as “self-portraits through the use of others.” They choose specifically to document and highlight the lives of queer brown bodies as a way of navigating and making sense of their own personal identity. Through specifically stylized outfits often paying homage to traditional Latino culture and performative poses, Bulnes incorporates their love for fashion and documentary photography allowing it to become a place for new identities to be reimagined and embraced. Their images feel as if one has interrupted a visceral moment of beauty. Libations provided. Eats by One Hot Minute LA.
