Learn Trauma-Informed Approaches for Teachers
Professional development for educators: Traumatic events for young children can be anything from divorce, loss of a loved one, experiencing a natural disaster, child abuse and stressors from COVID. Participants of this session will learn trauma-informed strategies that will help children feel safe, regulate big emotions, and prevent behaviors associated with stress reactions. This training will be led by Clay's advisor, Dr. Bob Shapiro, a well-known child abuse physician who specializes in pediatric abuse and trauma.
Dr. Shapiro is the director of Mayerson Center for Safe and Healthy Children at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, which is the leader in the recognition, diagnosis and treatment of child abuse. Dr. Shapiro has spent his career pioneering research concerned with improving child health and well-being by adding to our understanding of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), toxic stress and resilience. He will be joined by Clay's child and family therapist, Robin Maddox, to discuss the effects of trauma in young children.
