📚 Jesmyn Ward just released a new book — and we’re making it our June book club pick. Outlandish is a Brooklyn-based, Black-owned outdoor and community space rooted in storytelling, movement, and gathering with intention. Our book club is one way we make space for people of color to slow down, read deeply, and connect through shared reflection.
Join us as we read “On Witness and Despair,” Ward’s new essay collection exploring storytelling, grief, literature, motherhood, memory, and survival. Moving between personal reflection and cultural criticism, the book brings together more than a decade of writing from one of the most important literary voices working today.
From Toni Morrison and Octavia Butler to love, loss and the realities of living through this moment in history, these essays feel urgent, sharp and deeply human.
