The Brooklyn Book Festival is New York City’s largest free literary festival and connects readers with local, national and international authors and publishers during the course of a celebratory literary week.
The flagship Festival Day & Literary Marketplace will feature fan favorites Marlon James, Joyce Carol Oates, Namwali Serpell, Douglas Stuart, Pulitzer Prize-winning authors and journalists Colson Whitehead, Tracy K. Smith, Cristina Rivera Garza, Julia Angwin, and other award-winning and emerging authors.

We’re also supporting @childrensla and their Literally Healing Back-to-School Book Drive! 📚🎒 Through the Literally Healing program, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles provides free, brand-new books to children and families at the hospital. Every day, patients can receive a new book to keep, helping bring the joy and comfort of reading to kids and families during their hospital experience.
Come read with us, support our local library, and help put more books into the hands of children in our community. We can’t wait to turn pages together! 🤍📖

Hi everyone! I’m just a girl who lives in north beach looking for some more friends to surf with! ig: @graceclendenin
I’m new to organizing this and thought it be fun to have the surf equivalent of a run club. Let’s meet at Soul Grind in Pacifica at 9:30. Everyone welcome!
No experience required! If you’ve never surfed before I can give you tips and you can rent gear at the surf shop next to the coffee shop for ~$30!
Schedule:
- 9:30-10: meet at Soul Grind Coffee Roasters. Get coffee and chat!
- 9:30-9:50: If anyone needs to rent a surfboard or wetsuit, go next door to NorCal surf shop or Traveler surf shop. NorCal is cheaper but Traveler is better quality and women owned. Once you get your gear meet back outside Soul Grind with your stuff. At this point you can be wearing your wetsuit or put it on at the beach.
- 10:00: We’ll walk over from Soul Grind to the beach. I’m planning to set up camp near the creek.
- 10-10:15: I can give tips to anyone who needs it!
- 10:15-11: free surf! Then everyone leaves on their own time.
