Crit, short for critique, is a form of feedback standard in art school but is rarely practiced outside the classroom walls or beyond paywalls. We offer a safe, free space for creatives to talk about their work in a low-stakes, constructive environment. This gathering is intended for visual artists, but any creative is more than welcome to come and share. I (Addie) will have my iPad if you want to email me (addiethenomad@gmail.com) beforehand some images to share, or bring work in person (but this is so not required). I'll teach you how to sharpen your knife with a whetstone so it stops tearing instead of actually cutting, then we'll work through the cuts that make everyday cooking so much faster + better. At the end, we'll cook with everything we chopped. Yes, you will eat. All levels are welcome, whether you're the confident home cook who wants to sharpen up their skills or someone who learned to chop from vibes alone. No judgement here, just knife vibes. What we're learning: - the dice: fine, medium, large, and why size does actually matter - the chop: rough v fine, knowing when each serves you best - the julienne: matchsticks great for garnish, stir fry and being fancy - the slice: bias, crosscut, and ribbon cuts What we're cutting: - onions (including how to not ugly cry) - garlic - carrots - herbs The deets: - cost: $15 covers all produce + ingredients to make an amazing dinner - bring: your knife if you have one (I have extras) and a cutting board - vibe: dinner is included

She identifies as a folk-ish artist and a lyrics first writer, using music as a means to understand her lived experiences and comment on the world around her. She has two currently released singles, “sisyphus” and “Nothing Ever Changes”, which can be found on all streaming platforms. Catherine Brennan FFO: Sara Bareilles, Lizzy McAlpine, Jensen McRae Catherine is a folk singer/songwriter based in D.C. She has been writing music since she could hold a pencil and has always loved authentic storytelling through music. Her inspirations include Sara Barreilles and Hozier. Michael Mazey FFO: Mark Murphy, Chet Baker, and Mel Torme Michael Mazey is a DC based jazz singer and songwriter. Quinn Volpe FFO: Adrianne Lenker, Phoebe Bridgers, beabadoobee and Maggie Rogers Folk‑pop singer/songwriter Quinn Volpe (signed with Second District Records) makes tender songs you can dance or cry to. On her debut album More to Life, she and collaborator Liam Chapin blend dreamy, intimate vocals with shimmering electronic production to score stories of love, loss and the weirder corners of early adulthood. Her goal is to leave listeners a little heartbroken, a little hopeful, and questioning everything, ideally while still tapping their feet. Ryan Fitzgerald FFO: Alex G, Will Paquin, Far Caspian Ryan Fitzgerald writes music under the name “valleybrook.” He will release songs throughout 2026. He enjoys playing live music.
