Art Clinic: The Uses of Revenge

Today at 4pm · Cambridge
Our next Art Clinic on April 2nd features a creative writing session led by @stella.ik ✨ Study, imagine, and sacrifice yourself to the feeling of revenge in this Audre Lorde-inspired writing workshop 🌀📝🌀 What happens when you shed the shame and slaughter of being a “victim” and instead become the (anti-)hero you need? Inspired by Audre Lorde’s “The Uses of Anger” and “Uses of the Erotic,” we will explore the uses of revenge as a motivator for liberation. In this workshop, we will work through exercises to translate our imageries of vengeance into writing: through narratives and poetry, ransom letters and manifestos. The creativity, vulnerability, and truth of your experiences are needed, if only for one evening. 🌹🥀🌹 No previous writing experience required. Ideal for ages 18+ We want to make space to navigate dark themes without feeding judgement or shame. Be responsible for your own well-being.  This workshop is BIPOC and queer-led and prioritizes the protection of BIPOC, queer, and trans people. Attending this workshop means taking care of yourself and your neighbors. Revenge is sweet, so there will be cake. As always, we will provide some art materials to bring your writing to life! 📆 Thursday, April 2 @ 4pm-7pm 📍 @cambridgefoundry 💸 Pay-What-You-Can ($10-30) 🔗 Register at the link in bio! 🎨 Art Clinics are curated healing spaces for creative expression and emotional/spiritual connection with community. Drop-in to make some unique art and enjoy the conversation. Hosted by Art & Soul Clinic. Featuring local artists and friends. Follow us on Instagram for the latest updates @artandsoulclinic

We bring people together to learn about, discuss and fight around the most critical issues that we face as working class people — from racist police brutality and skyrocketing rents to poverty wages, union busting, and never-ending wars. We recognize that only together can we fight for a new society that prioritizes people over profit. - - - FEATURED PERFORMANCE: OTTO VOCK! Otto Vock is a Jewish, non-binary poet and educator from Jersey City, NJ, now based in Somerville, MA, whose work explores, play, rebellion, labor, queerness, and decolonized glances into their family history. Their work has appeared in The Offing, Pigeon Pages NYC, and the Quinobequin Review. Their manuscript in progress, They Did Not Comply, received an honorable mention from Game Over Book’s 2025 open reading period and was a semifinalist for Sundress Publication’s open reading period. Currently, Otto works at Mass Poetry as their Teen Spoken Word Programming Coordinator. When they can scramble together funding, they love to teach creative writing classes at Boston Public Library branches that are free and open to the public. They are pursuing a Master’s in Educational Studies at Tufts University and engage in trickery within the world of academia whenever possible (always).
