Caballero and Wade will read excerpts from their new books, Material and Quick Change Artist, respectively. Caballero will also present her multimedia poetic installations at MAD Arts, advocating on behalf of poetry’s participation in the visual and new media arts. As a beloved South Florida professor of poetry, Wade will dive into how creative writing education might evolve to include a wider range of mediums in their programs and share her experiences collaborating with digital artists. A Creative Evening: Plenty of space, time, and shared ideas for scrapbooking and junk journaling. What to Bring: Your journal of course! And any treasures, scraps, and memories you have collected! Photos, receipts, tickets, tags, packaging, and brochures. Or whatever you are working on and some whimsy! We will have a shared art table with scissors, glue, papers, stickers etc. No experience necessary, our community will help you along. If you don't have a journal no worries, we have our club meet journal and small ones for you to use and take home :)

This month we’re reading The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka. The Metamorphosis follows Gregor Samsa, a traveling salesman who has spent years working to pay off his family’s debts, and who wakes up one morning transformed into an insect. Underneath the surreal premise is a profound exploration of alienation, guilt, and family dynamics. Join in dissecting this classic 🖤 Flow for the afternoon: ∙ 4:00–4:30 — Arrival, getting settled, free flowing conversation ∙ 4:30–5:15 — Guided group discussion ∙ 5:15–6:00 — Open discussion, mingling, and free flowing conversation The book club is and will always be free. We’re offering a pay what you can option for anyone who feels moved to contribute. Every donation goes directly toward building more intentional gatherings for this community.
