Over the past year, there has been a lot of action both on the state level and the city level in regard to policies relating to small businesses. This includes home based businesses, cottage food rules, front yard businesses, accessory commercial units, how food trucks are inspected and permitted, grease traps and beyond. This event is two fold in that we want the dialogue to both provide expertise and inspiration as well as an open exploration of what we could be doing better in terms of retail in Austin. We have set out to present a panel of diverse expertise and backgrounds to discuss their experiences in opening, operating or starting a business in Austin, provide feedback on some of the new programs and how they could be beneficial and holistically explore the topic of what needs to be done to bring more retail to Austin.
