We’re holding a special event in lieu of our monthly Bachata+ night this November! The first portion of the night will be a community chat for anyone interested in getting involved with or continuing to be involved in QT Fusion Dance, or in giving their input into the future of the organization.
After that, we’ll head over to our usual spot at Green Lantern for a fusion dance practica with possibly some informal lessons. The second part is FREE with suggested $3 donation if you are ONLY coming for the dancing. If you make it to the first part, we will count your input as your donation! 😉
Schedule & Deets
6:30-8:30pm Community Dinner & Chat/Input at Arepa Zone on 14th St
—>We will buy a few sides/appetizers for all to share, but expect most attendees to buy the main course of dinner on their own. If you have previously volunteered or worked with us and need the extra support, send us a message and we’ll make sure you are well-fed!
8:30-10pm Fusion Dance Practica (any styles) at Green Lantern
—>If anyone wants to teach a short dance lesson, let us know!
—>We’ll make sure to include some bachata since this is normally our Bachata+ night.
Background:
QT Fusion Dance has been around since 2017, but in order to expand to consistent weekly events, we need to get more people involved. We were the only queer & trans *sapphic-leaning* partner dance org in DC when we started out, fulfilling a longtime dream of creating a kind of community space that didn’t previously exist, and one of only two queer social partner dance orgs in town (along with Rawhides). Since then, we have been pleased to see that the number of queer/sapphic partner dance orgs in DC has grown, and we’ve also partnered with some of them!
Changes in the local community landscape as well as evolutions in social media have also led to a need for adaptations in how we organize. More help and more voices would be beneficial to this end! So we invite you all to join us and give your input on the future of QT Fusion Dance or find out about how you can get more involved.
Our beloved bachata instructor Melissa Romero will no longer be able to regularly teach for us in the foreseeable future, so we thought this would be a good time to put our heads together and do something a little different.
