Sew Your Own: A July Workshop Series at Sew Loka Hosted by Claudia & Gaby · Sponsored by the William Male Foundation After a Holy Summer of repairs, we're spending July learning to make things from scratch. Two free workshops, four sessions across the month — each one a complete beginner-friendly introduction to sewing where you walk out with something you made yourself. Adults 18+, all skill levels welcome, no experience needed. 🧵 Thursdays, 6–8:30 PM 📍 Sew Loka, 2113 Logan Avenue, Suite B, San Diego, CA 92113 👥 20 spots per workshop · waitlist available 💛 Free, thanks to the William Male Foundation A quick heads-up on a few things: 📝 Waiver at check-in. We'll have a short liability waiver ready for you to sign when you arrive — takes about 30 seconds. Standard stuff for any workshop with sewing machines. 📸 Photos for the 'gram. We usually take photos during workshops for Sew Loka's social media. If you'd rather not be in them, just let Claudia know when you arrive — no problem at all. 💌 If your plans change, give us a heads-up so we can welcome someone from the waitlist into your spot! 💛 Workshop 2: Sew Your Own Zipper Pouch Dates: July 9 (Thu) · July 30 (Thu) · 6–8:30 PM ✨ Sew Your Own #2: Zipper Pouch Zippers look intimidating. They're not — you just need someone to show you the trick once. Claudia will walk you through every step of building a zipper pouch from scratch: choosing your fabric, cutting your pieces, installing the zipper (the part everyone's afraid of), and finishing it into a clean, functional little bag. Use it as a makeup pouch, a pencil case, a coin purse, a catch-all for the bottom of your tote bag — whatever you need. You'll learn sewing machine basics, how to work with zippers without fear, and how to construct a lined pouch from start to finish. By the end of the workshop, you walk out with a finished zipper pouch made from recycled fabrics, handmade by you. This is normally a $65 class — completely free this July thanks to the William Male Foundation. Bring: just yourself. We provide everything — sewing machines, recycled fabrics, zippers, thread, and patient instruction. (Wear something comfortable you don't mind getting a little fabric dust on.)
