We are pleased to announce a solo exhibition by Shuyao Huang, curated by Nicolas Berkel, In collaboration with Art Cake. Our exhibition, titled Still Becoming, explores color repetition and form as a way of experiencing time, attention, interruption, transformation, and new perceptions. This show builds on Huang’s long-standing discipline built from carefully calibrated relationships of color. Conceptually, the show is organized around three interconnected sections—Breath, Interruption, and Becoming—of which all paintings featured can find their categorization. Throughout Still Becoming, the spatial arrangement encourages movement between individual works and across the exhibition as a whole. Rhythm is felt not only within each painting but also through the conversations between them, allowing the rich experience of close looking to develop across scale, surface, and color combination.
