Join us on this July 4th🪸in connecting with the rivers of nyc and the fresh water source between them (Collect Pond, NYC).
We will be meeting in two groups (east and west), connecting with the rivers that line Manhatta(n), and walking over to the center to meet together at Collect Pond.
(It’s about a ten-ish minute walk over 🥰 from river to pond (park) )
What is collect pond?
🌊Collect Pond is a 48 acre freshwater-source that once was home to a vibrant eco system. It was the largest freshwater source of the island of Manhatta(n) for the Lenape people. Collect Pond now sits underneath the cement of lower Manhattan. The deepest point of the pond is marked by a NYC Park. We will be meeting at the rivers and walking the waters’ path towards that center.
What was it like? What is it like now? What can it teach us? Do you have so many questions? Us too 😌 come bring them along with any thoughts, feelings, knowledge- Or just enjoy quiet contemplation and a warm morning as we sit with the waters in honor and care.
