Author Talk: Black Metal with Afrotectopia

Join us for a conversation with Ari Melenciano, artist, technologist, and founder of Afrotectopia, in celebration of Black Metal, a limited-edition experimental art book. Black Metal pushes the boundaries of space travel, science fiction, speculative design, Black culture, art, technology, and spirituality. The book is simultaneously an archive and catalyst of future worlds. Afrotectopia is a social institution cultivating boundless innovation at the nexus of art, design, technology, and culture. Founded in 2018, Afrotectopia began as a highly cross-disciplinary conference cultivating a vibrant community of industry and cultural pioneers. For years, Afrotectopia hosted a variety of free and low-cost programming that bridged connections between emerging technologies, Black culture, and racial equity.
