Free! Join us for an interactive session on how to read a surf report and learn how to confidently assess conditions before paddling out. We’ll break down the key elements of a surf report including swell height and direction, period, wind, tides, and local forecast. We’ll also introduce Waves of Color’s Pre-Surf Session Checklist, a simple, easy-to-follow resource designed to help surfers build smart pre-surf habits, improve ocean awareness, identify potential hazards, and make informed decisions based on waves, weather, currents, and surf conditions. Every attendee will receive a copy of the Pre-Surf Session Checklist! This resource can be used as: • A surf session readiness checklist • An ocean conditions & hazard awareness guide • A coaching and group safety planning tool Whether you’re new to surfing or looking to build more confidence in reading the ocean, this session will give you practical tools you can use before every surf. This event welcomes ALL WOMEN & non-binary people who are comfortable in a space centered on women's experiences. You must be 18 years or older to attend. About Us: Waves of Color's mission is to support the next generation of women to become surf leaders, coaches, mentors, and competitors 🌸🏄🏻‍♀️ We offer scholarships for surf coaching certifications, competition grants, surf and ocean safety education, and opportunities for surf skill development. 50% of our scholarships directly support women of color.
