Every week, there’s a new headline about what AI is going to do to jobs, to schools, to the way we live. Most of those conversations are happening without kids in the room. AI Block Party puts them in the room.
It’s a half-day workshop-hackathon for students ages 11–14. Teams work with LEGO Education’s brand-new Computer Science & AI kits to tackle a real-world challenge - not a textbook exercise, not a tutorial. They build, they make decisions, they argue with each other about what the machine should do. Then they stand in front of a panel of tech founders and explain their thinking. That last part matters as much as the building.
We’re not trying to manufacture the next Zuckerberg. We’re trying to make sure that when AI shows up in these kids’ lives - in their schools, their future workplaces, the products they use every day; they understand it well enough to question it, shape it, and use it on their own terms. That’s what
AI literacy actually means. It’s not a skill. It’s a disposition.
AI Block Party is built for the Tech Week community, because you’re the people who get this. If you’re a parent in tech who has thought about how to have a real conversation with your kid about AI, if you’re a founder building something that will touch the next generation, if you believe that the gap between kids who can work with AI and kids who can’t is going to be one of the defining equity issues of the next decade — this event is yours too. Come observe. Come mentor.
Come see what’s possible when you hand a 13-year-old a real tool and get out of the way.
Admission is free for student participants. Space is limited.
This event is a part of #BOSTechWeek—a week of events hosted by VCs and startups to bring together the tech ecosystem. Learn more at www.tech-week.com.
