In this masterclass, we’ll introduce Mellea, an
open‑source framework that treats large language models,
not as chat partners, but as programmable components
inside real applications. You’ll see how AI behavior can be
broken into clear, composable steps using the Instruct–
Validate–Repair pattern, with structured outputs and
grounded retrieval built in. The payoff: predictable,
auditable, and reproducible AI. Combined with smaller
open‑weight models like IBM’s Granite models, developers
are seeing performant, trustworthy results at a fraction of
the cost. We’ll close the session with a real‑world case
study that turns a stack of construction PDFs into a fully
cited cost estimate and report.
