Join us for a bi-monthly Eastside Contact Improvisation (CI) class + jam designed for beginners and seasoned movers alike. This is a welcoming space for all bodies and all levels.
Contact Improvisation is a movement research practice focused on exploring physics, gravity, and listening through dance in contact with others and with the floor. The intention of this jam is to create a focused and accessible space to practice contact improvisation and deepen our research together. We will begin with a 1 hour open levels class (led this month by Marie Osterman) and then open into a jam. No previous experience is required to attend, but do please read our guidelines upon arrival. We will also link them here closer to the jam.
CI offers practices that translate directly into everyday life and relationships such as:
❤️Attunement & listening beyond words
🧡Nervous system regulation & co-regulation
💛Welcoming tension and conflict as part of the dance
💚Finding ease and less effort through mutuality
💜Trusting intuition and adapting to change
