Join ScanLAB Projects, the UK-based studio behind the FRAMERATE: Desert Pulse exhibit currently on display at Desert Botanical Garden for a hands-on workshop and talk at ASU MIX Center Thursday, May 7 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. This interdisciplinary session explores how 3D scanning, machine vision, and immersive storytelling can reshape how we capture, preserve, and understand memory. What to expect:
• Intro to 3D scanning (LiDAR, photogrammetry, mobile tools)
• Exploration of pointcloud visuals and datasets
• Hands-on creation of your own 3D scans
• Conversations around ethics, memory, and digital archives
Stick around after the workshop for a reception with the artists, followed by a 5:00 p.m. opening exhibition of Operorama - a new interactive art installation inside MIX's Enhanced Immersion Studio by MIX assistant professor, artist Weidi Zhang.
Don't miss your last chance to see Desert Pulse at the Desert Botanical Garden, showing 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily now through May 10.
