SEPTEMBER FEATURES: Tori Kirihara, Jacque Churchville & DJ Tee
Tori Kirihara, founder of The Feels Foundation, is a young Chinese Japanese American woman who has a passion for art and giving back to her community. She aims to inspire and uplift the community using her art to bring awareness to the issues in this crazy world. It is with this mission that she founded The Feels Foundation, which strives to serve the community through art, by giving space to young artists and breaking the barriers of accessibility to the art community here in Seattle.
Jacque Churchville, a member and alumni of The Feels Foundation, is a Vegas born and raised, Seattle based artist. She uses nostalgic cartoons and the world around us in her art to achieve her ultimate goal: bringing joy to others. She hopes to spark the childlike sense of happiness in those who see her art.
Tori and Jacque have both partnered with a youth for the September 10th CHAW. Tori has created a piece with her son, Kiyo, whom she has dedicated much of her parenting time to encouraging his creativity and fostering a passion for art. Jacque has created a piece with Eve Sandoval, whom has been a long time participant in the summer Art Together program with the Feels. Through these pieces they hope to showcase how important it is to nurture the creativity in youth and the beauty that can come from allowing them the space to create.
